Joakim Isoaho — CV
Curious, restless, and drawn to ambiguous problems. I like asking the question behind the question, connecting things across domains and turning ideas into actual experiments.
Most of my career has been some version of GTM: launching new markets, building communities, growing new products and working out how emerging technologies get adopted. Over the last few years that pulled me into crypto, stablecoins and onchain finance, working with startups building financial infrastructure and institutions figuring out how to use it.
I’m currently taking time off to tinker on my own projects and explore what is possible as AI makes building dramatically easier, trying to figure out what I want to get obsessed with next.

Work experience
GTM
MegaLabs · May – Aug 2026
Worked on stablecoin finance and stablecoin-enabled businesses, helping startups building on Mega figure out distribution, product positioning and GTM. Oversaw deals that helped bring onchain TVL toward $1B, while working with apps reaching >5M ARR.
Strategy & Research
Equilibrium · Nov 2022 – May 2026
Worked on the adoption and economics of decentralized systems, helping customers and portfolio companies understand, integrate and build with onchain technologies. Spent a lot of time thinking about value accrual in decentralized systems, and later about how institutions could use stablecoins and stablecoin finance.
Growth Ops — Community & New Verticals
Gather Town, remote · Jul 2021 – Aug 2022
Individual-contributor growth work: finding bottlenecks and opportunities and working on them project by project.
- Built the first user communities across Discord, Facebook Groups, Slack and even Naver, reaching 50k+ power users.
- Onboarded top web3 projects (CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, AAVE) onto Gather with web3-specific content and growth programs.
- GTM lead on several launches, most recently Gather Experiences, a mini-game initiative to grow top of funnel — including the Escape The Island landing page, waitlist and tweet-based viral referral system.
Customer Success & Campaign Ops, NA Lead
Matchmade.tv, Los Angeles · Feb 2020 – Jul 2021
Grew and retained all US client accounts at an influencer-marketing startup built around scale, predictability and constant improvement. Ran campaigns, improved internal processes with no-code tooling, liaised between product and business, and analysed campaign results (SQL, Sheets, Cluvio, Tableau).
Driver Operations, Europe
Bolt — Helsinki, Stockholm, London · Aug 2018 – Jan 2020
Part of Bolt’s market launch teams. Launching a market is research, plan, execute: scoping markets and competitors and estimating TAM from alternative data; building one-year growth models covering ops, marketing, discounts and driver bonuses; and lining up every team so the launch lands at once. Also on the new-vertical task force looking at the sharing economy.
Head of Community
Junction, Helsinki · May 2016 – Dec 2017
Grew a hackathon nonprofit with friends into Europe’s largest: $1M+ in revenue and a community of 5k+ by the time I left to live in China. Managed partnerships with Facebook, Skype, Supercell, the European Space Agency, Uber, Twitter and Oculus, screened 8,000+ applications, ran 10+ satellite events worldwide (Tokyo and Reykjavík were favourites) and scoped JunctionX, a low-barrier hackathon format for student organisers.
- Junction 2017, in one weekend: 1,500 developers, 80+ nationalities, 200+ universities, 300+ new open-source projects.
Side projects
DeFi anon
Providing liquidity, farming yields, contributing to DAOs, analysing stablecoin risk, running delta-neutral strategies and synthetic shorts.
DJ collective
Started a techno DJ collective with friends in Helsinki and organised events of varying degrees of legality.
Event organiser
Events within nonprofits totalling 5,000+ attendees and €100k+ in budgets, with €0 in salaries — including hackathons in Tokyo, Reykjavík and elsewhere on VR, gaming and fintech, with Uber, Shopify, Stripe, Valve, HTC and CCP Games. (I cold emailed Gabe Newell and he replied.)

Macro theory, plus Python, Stata and R for econometrics. Thesis on the economics of two-sided markets. Aalto Fellow ’19, Aalto Gamers, Aalto AI Soc.
